1.English siritori.

Before class every Moday.

Teacher says
“Ready…Go!”
We write English words on blackboard.
apple, every, year,
read, do, October…

Blackboard is filled.
My heart is beating.

Signal of the end.

And signal of starting class.

2.Talking in English.
I want to talk.
But…

I’m not good at talking.

Shy and shameful.

___The first poem describes a moment when I was junior high school student. I played English siritori with my classmates before English class every Monday. Our English teacher gave us the signal of the opening. And we started to write English words on the blackboard.

___The last alphabet of the word was important. We wrote the next word using the alphabet. It was very difficult for me. But English siritori was as fun as Japanese siritori. We enjoyed that time every week.

___That was signal of the end when the blackboard was filled. And that was signal of starting English class,too.

___The second poem describes a moment when I was high school student. There was the event that recited the English textbook in front of my classmates. It was held at school once a year in spring.
___I liked talking in English. I liked memorizing sentences, too. But I wasn’t good. Therefore it was tense to talk in English in front of large number of people.
___In this poem, I expressed a gloomy feeling at the time of the announce. I’m not still good at talking in English. However, I wasn’t tense by this experience in the high school. The second poem is an important record.

___The third poem describes a moment when I was junior high school student. I expressed a feeling when I opened the English textbook at school.
___Other textbooks almost have a lot of sentences. It’s common because they are books for study. I feel that it’s uninteresting to read those textbooks. But the English textbook has many pictures and photographs. They are very colorful. Therefore I was fun just to open the English textbook.
___In this poem, I expressed it using the name of the color brightly. In addition, I wrote not only the name of the color but also the word to feel to brightness. I can remember a moment to open the English textbook when I read this poem.

___The fourth poem describes a moment when I was elementary school student. I talked with ALT in an English class for the first time. I was tense because it was the first experience for me. When ALT came to our classroom, I became very glad. He looked like a gentle face. He had blond hair, blue eyes and white skin. I came to like him in an instant.
___He was very tender and cheerful. When he met us, he gave cheerful greeting with a smile. He said, “Heyaaa!! How’s life?”. I looked forward to this greeting. I was able to spend all day by this greeting.
___But I had few opportunities to talk with him. Because he came to our school only two days in a week. I wanted to talk with him alot. But I was able to hardly talk with him. In this poem, I expressed my glad and sad feelings.

___The fifth poem describes a moment when I was elementary school student. When I was six grade, a transfer student came to our class. And she sat next to me. She came from China. She was my my first foreigner friend.
___She spoke Chinese. I speke Japanese. And we spoke a little English. On that day, we selected the person in charge of the new school term. I explainted the person in charge because I was a seat next to her. Iexplainted the blackboard by English. But I wasn’t able to tell green and black. By this experience, I wanted to came to be able to speak English.

I became very sad and trying. I felt “Why would not I make more preparations?”. Everyone’s hand moved quickly. I felt only oneself can’t do it. In this poem, I expressed my sad feeling.

1.Self-introduction

___I’m Mika Onozato. I have older sister. Her name is Miki. I and Miki are very close. We go out in two people well.

___I’m from Gunma. I live in Maebashi. So my home is near to Gunma University. I go to school by car. I attend Gunma university. I’m second year. My major is Japanese. I like studying Japanese very much. I want to study more Japanese.

___I have studied English for 9 years. It is very long time. But I’m weak in English. When I talk in English, I feel that I’m slightly ashamed. I want to overcome it.

 

2.Explanation of my theme

___A theme of this book is my English memories. I have studied for 9 years. So I have a lot of memories about English. They are happy, sad, interesting and so on. All memories are very important things for me. I don’t want to forget these memories. I made this book to keep these in mind.

___I can see connection of feelings among 10 poems. For example, a happy memory is positive poem. On the other hand, a sad memory is negative poem. But it is power for the next chance. So a sad memory is positive poem, too. I want to do my best from now on.
